HAIR REMOVAL
Expert Help Guidance Support
IPL, intense pulsed light has revolutionised hair removal, it's permenant removing up to 95% of all targeted hair and is fast and virtually painless, it saves both time and money on traditional methods of shaving and waxing
How it works
IPL works by targeting the pigment within the hair follicle, sending heat energy through the hair to the papilla which in turn destroys it preventing further hair growth
Why do you need multiple sessions?
As hair grows in cycles and can only be destroyed by the laser when it is in the anagen phase (where the hair follicle is attached to the papilla at it's base) every hair may be at a different stage of growth at the time of treatment so multiple treatments are required
How long between treatments?
To ensure the best results it is important to allow enough time for the hair to pass through different growth stages.
Normally 4-6 weeks between treatments is sufficient although towards the end of your treatment hair growth can slow so a longer gap may be required

Do I need to shave the area to be treated?

Yes, I request that all my clients shave the area they want treated prior to the appointment as the energy from the laser travels down the hair follicle and the less hair it has to travel through the better the results
Does it hurt?
IPL for the most part is painless, on areas like the legs, back, shoulders and chest you are only likely to feel a small amount of heat. On more intimate areas where the skin is thinner or more sensitive some discomfort is possible but by using the very latest laser technology this is kept to a minimum
How skin and hair colour affects treatment?
As the IPL is absorbed by the pigment within the hair, the darker the hair and the lighter skin the more effective the treatment can be and fewer sessions are normally required, this is not to say that is is not suitable for those with lighter hair it will just take a few more sessions, it is however important for your skin to be it's natural colour as a tan, be it real of fake can have a huge effect on the success of the treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients tend to have between 5-7 treatments but this can vary from one person to another, those with lighter can normally expect to have a few more and each persons hair growth cycle can impact the number of sessions required
